Current 400cc bikes from Japan

The small superbikes are definitely no longer. Retro-styled, air-cooled commuter naked and semi-naked bikes are the in thing now in Japan (not counting 400cc cruisers and dirtbikes). It remains to be seen how popular they will become as grey bikes in South Africa.

It seems the SV400 and SV400S production has definitely ended, but Suzuki has a GSR400 going in Japan. This must now be the latest, most modern multi-cylinder 400 available?

Yamaha still has the XJR400R in production, along with the single-cylinder SR400.

Honda also still has the CB400 SUPER FOUR/CB400 SUPER BOL D'OR (VTEC & watercooled) – the NC39, that introduced in 1992.

Then there is a modern-looking Hornet 250 with a water-cooled 4-cylinder engine. And of course, the single-cylinder CB400SS.

Nothing from Kawasaki?

Have race rep 400s had their day?
